I had planned to meet up with my friend Melida and attend a party with some of her friends but I had some time to kill. Luckily my friend Shawn obliged in meeting me for a drink at Mitsy’s Sister, a really neat bar at Queen and Lansdowne that I had never been to before. I ordered a Steamwhistle in my quest to consume all things Canadian—coincidentally it turns out that Shawn currently works at the Steamwhistle brewery!

I wish I had remembered to take a photo of Shawn but these things always manage to slip my mind at the time. I did get to buy a copy of Shawn’s new album, Like Birds Too Tired to Fly, which I was very excited to get my hands on. Some of the songs on it are songs I’ve heard him play many times before (only redone in a whole new way) but there is plenty of new stuff on there as well. I finished listening through the whole thing this morning and was super impressed at how it sounded. My favorite remains “To Think I Once Was Lost” because it makes me homesick. The whole album is wonderful and I’m so glad I have a copy now. My friend Jessica did the artwork for the album and its simply beautiful as well.

Bento Box #143. I am a creature of habit. This little baby plus all the aforementioned appetizers runs for $12. The one thing that you can always get cheap in Toronto is FOOD. I had to take my belt out a notch—Tom is a good friend and didn’t judge me.

Korean appetizers and some Miso. I like everything but the soya beans cause they taste a bit like sweaty gym socks (if I had ever tried those—gym socks are a delicacy in some parts of the world I’m told)

Day 4: Sushi with Tom!

Met Tom at Ho Su on Queen St. He’s become my Ho Su buddy as somehow that’s where we always end up. Just as tasty as ever.

Caught the new subway train, the Rocket, from Union Station. Very cool and modern looking with no divisions between cars. When the train curves around the bend from Union you can see the bend in the entire train. It was exciting to see the changes but a little tricky to get a good photo of it.

Bagged Milk!! Strangely another thing I miss. I’m sick of trying to carry gallon jugs home from the supermarket.

My parents deck. My favourite place to relax while in town, especially with such nice weather (low 80s! Hear that New Orleans?)

Oh my god Timmy’s how I miss thee…

After dinner we headed to Kilgours for beer and scrabble. Is there a better combination out there?

I had the Pad Thai. Predictable but yummy…..
